藤吉隆雄（ふじよし・たかお）
藤吉隆雄は、東京を拠点に活動する写真家。写真家として30年以上の活動歴を持ち、うち約18年間は専業プロ写真家として雑誌・書籍・広告などの撮影に携わった。
元・日本雑誌写真記者会会員。（公社）日本写真協会会員。2004年カメラグランプリ選考委員。
建築デザイン専門誌『AXIS』、サブカル週刊誌『SPA!』で写真家キャリアをスタート。香港『EASY FINDER』のストリンガー、カタール・ドーハのAl Jazeera Media Training and Development Centerで教える側のスタッフを経て、研究・教育領域へ活動を広げた。
名古屋大学特任助教、北海道大学特任准教授、国立情報学研究所特任専門員として主に科学技術コミュニケーションと科学技術ジャーナリズムに従事。あいちサイエンス・コミュニケーション・ネットワーク実行委員、初代事務局コーディネーターとして、科学技術と社会をつなぐ活動にも関わった。現在も大学で教えている。
博士研究の主題は「（特に航空自衛隊の）デモンストレーションと社会の相互作用」。社会学専門は「都市メディアと身体表象」、理系専門は「写真印刷工芸科学と応用物理学」。写真史、写真メディア研究、科学技術社会論を背景に、展示、写真集、Web、研究発表を横断する写真活動を行っている。
近年は、女優性、匿名性、仮面、身体表現を軸にした写真作品制作と、航空自衛隊ブルーインパルス、機体、基地、観客、展示飛行空間をめぐる研究写真活動を並行している。人物、編集、文化・研究領域などの撮影依頼にも対応している。藤吉隆雄の写真活動は、ひとつのジャンルに留まらず、メディア、社会、科学、身体、制度の境界を移動してきた。
FUJIYOSHI Takao
FUJIYOSHI Takao is a Tokyo-based photographer with more than 30 years of photographic practice. For about 18 of those years, he worked full-time as a professional photographer on assignments for magazines, books, advertising, and related media.
He is a former member of the Japan Magazine Photographers Association and a current member of the Photographic Society of Japan. In 2004, he served on the Camera Grand Prix selection committee.
He began his professional career as a photographer with the architectural and design magazine AXIS and the Japanese weekly magazine SPA!. He later worked as a stringer for Hong Kong’s EASY FINDER and served on the teaching staff at the Al Jazeera Media Training and Development Center in Doha, Qatar, before expanding his practice into research and education.
He held specially appointed positions at Nagoya University, Hokkaido University, and the National Institute of Informatics, working primarily in science and technology communication and science journalism. He also served as an executive committee member and the first secretariat coordinator of the Aichi Science Communication Network. He continues to teach at university level.
His doctoral research examines the interaction between aerial demonstrations—particularly those of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force—and society. His sociological specialization is urban media and bodily representation; his scientific specialization is the science and craft of photographic printing and applied physics. Drawing on photographic history, photography and media studies, and science and technology studies, his practice moves across exhibitions, photobooks, web publishing, and academic presentations.
His recent work brings together photographic projects centered on the presence of the actress, anonymity, masks, and bodily expression with research-based photography of Blue Impulse, aircraft, air bases, spectators, and aerial display spaces. He also accepts commissioned assignments in portraiture, editorial, cultural, and research-related fields. Rather than remaining within a single genre, FUJIYOSHI’s photographic practice moves across the boundaries of media, society, science, the body, and institutions.
