FUJIYOSHI Takao photographs people, bodies, cities, aircraft, air bases, spectators, and the spaces in which public images are made. His practice moves between FOXTROT—a world of actress-like presence, anonymity, masks, bodies, cities, fantasy, and story—and BLUE, a photographic and sociological project on Blue Impulse and society.

FOXTROT
FOXTROT is the central photographic world of FUJIYOSHI Takao. Shooting is the core. Bodies, masks, rooms, streets, actresses, anonymity, encounters, and cities are photographed and built into photobooks, exhibitions, web works, prints, and saleable editions. The project moves between presence, fantasy, bodily expression, and the city without reducing the woman in the photograph to a single role.
FOXTROT / Story Photobooks
From the street, into the room, and back to the city.
A woman is not treated as an interchangeable model. She appears as an actress within a photographic world. The photograph carries her presence, the place, the time, and the photographer’s fiction together.
FOXTROT contains several routes into the work: story portraiture, masks, performance, and deeper body-based works. Each route is entered on its own terms while remaining part of the same photographic practice: making a strong image, shaping it into a work, and sending it into society.

BLUE
BLUE is not research alone. It is the photographer’s work of photographing Blue Impulse, aircraft, air bases, spectators, commemorative objects, and aerobatic display spaces—then tracing how those images, memories, institutions, and public events interact across society.

A Transpac Journey from Nellis to Nagano
Seventy photographs follow Blue Impulse from its 1997 real-world debut in the United States to its media-world reappearance at the Nagano Winter Olympics. The photographs serve as both works and catalysts for collecting memories, records, testimony, and objects.
Thanks / Venue Wanted. The Kohinata Shrine exhibition in Tokyo concluded in July 2026. The project is now seeking its next exhibition venue and co-presenting partner.

Profile
FUJIYOSHI began professional photography in 1992 with AXIS and SPA!. Since June 2010, he has expanded the same continuing photographic practice into research-based photography, writing, university education, exhibitions, and photobook production.
Solo Exhibitions
Twenty solo photographic exhibitions in Japan, including research photo exhibitions that combine photographs, archives, testimony, and public participation.
Camera Grand Prix
Selection committee member. Former member of the Japan Magazine Photographers Association; current member of the Photographic Society of Japan.
International work includes serving as a stringer for Hong Kong’s EASY FINDER, working at the Al Jazeera Media Training and Development Center in Doha, Qatar, and producing a commissioned Tokyo fashion report for the U.S. web edition of Playboy.
At Nagoya University, Hokkaido University, and the National Institute of Informatics, he worked in science and technology communication and journalism. His doctoral research examines the interaction between Blue Impulse and society. His fields include urban media, bodily representation, photographic history, photographic media, photographic printing craft science, applied physics, and science and technology studies.
These are not separate identities placed beside photography. They are materials, methods, institutions, and social routes through which the photographs are made, exhibited, published, sold, and discussed.

FUJIYOSHI is looking for women who want to appear in his photographic works as actresses—not simply as interchangeable models. No previous acting or shooting experience is required. The work begins with photographing your atmosphere, expression, posture, movement, and presence.
A project may continue into web works, exhibitions, photobooks, prints, and saleable editions. Different projects have different conditions and levels of bodily expression. Choose the route that matches the work you want to enter; art-nude projects are presented through their own dedicated call.
